Project 2.2
2024-04-15
Project 2 has had a slight change, what was originally meant to be project 2 (a mini washer) is still waiting for some parts to arrive, so instead I pivoted and printed and finished my wooden spoon rest. We had a nice wooden spoon rest, but unfortunately the handle snapped off (at some point I want to try repairing it with some epoxy and gold mica - kintsugi style). For the moment I have designed up 2 different versions in onshape - a rounded version and a hexagonal version. Both have been printed in a cool tri-colour silk PLA. As I’m not sure how food-safe PLA is, I’ve opted for some extra post-processing. I’ve got some food safe resin, and have tried coating the rests in that. It’s the first time I’ve used resin like this, overall I think the process has gone ok, the parts are still curing. I’ve got most of the bubbles out, but I may have stuck it to the card it was resting on in a way that’s not easy to clean up - we shall see.
